The Church of Tom Jones
image This doesn't appear to be a church for those that worship Tom Jones. Instead, it's just a church for those who enjoy listening to Tom Jones music (I think the former would have been slightly more interesting). Also, I don't think it's a joke. Or maybe it is, and I don't get it. Pastor Jack, the guy who runs the church, seems to have been spooking around for quite a while. He boasts that in 1997 he was voted Strangest Person in America. That would be something to put on a resume. (via Holy Weblog)

You know, if they sang more Tom Jones hymns in church I might actually go.

Jerry Garcia also has his own church - it's known as the Church of Unlimited Devotion.

San Francisco used to have a Church of Jimi Hendrix, which later became the Church of John Coltrane (or maybe it was the other way around). The one time I was in S.F. on a Sunday, I tried to go there, but I couldn't find the place.

I remember seeing that pastor Jack person on VH1's Totally Obsessed show. It was ... interesting.

Funny, and right! But if Elvis is Divine, I'm a cheese sandwich!

No, stork, haven't you heard? The Virgin Mary is a cheese sandwich, it seems. You're probably a chocolate covered marshmallow, or something similar. And Elvis, of course, would be a peanut butter and banana sandwich.

Make that "Fried peanut butter and banana sandwich", and yeah, saw the Virgin Mary grilled cheese thing, too. Some freaks'll believe and buy Anything! Good thing Elvis wasn't around for the deep fried turkey craze, could've burnt down Graceland - or maybe that would be better. Happy Thanksgiving!

This church is just as valid as any other church, or any other religion. Actually it may be more valid, because at least Tom Jones exists!
