Skinny Model

Status: Real
image A lot of people still stumble upon the "Too Skinny" pictures that I have posted on the site. (Warning: one of the pictures may not be safe for work.) Andrea was one such person, and decided to send in a picture of a real-life skinny model that she once worked with to serve as a comparison. She writes:

I worked for 3 seasons at dolce&gabbanna in milan, italy and all the girl models were very skinny but we had 2 anorexic/bulimic ones, one (the one in the pic) more than the other. The thing that really got to me while working there is that the girl with the best body (thin but curvy, great breasts, ass and legs) was the one that fit into less clothes, no jeans would close or even go all the way up! but even worse than that, there was this new collection of leather/plastic skirts and trousers that we could only fit on the model whose pic i'm sending, two of the trousers we'd even have to close them between 2 people because they were so small... and whenever she had to model those ones she would stop eating for a day or two. To each their own ideas, but i saw her wasting away, partly fault of the fashion industry and i don't think that is right.

I agree that the girl in the picture is very skinny, but thankfully she's nowhere near as skinny as the models in the Too-Skinny pictures (which are all fake, by the way).

Nico I'm am sorry but you are thin and it's NOT attractive at all!!!!!!

Are you skinny like that naturally or are you doing this to yourself on purpose?

I think you need a HUGE reality check!!!

It is NOT beautiful to have ALL your bones showing through your skin......I am very surprised that your mother, whom you've spoken of on your Xanga page, hasn't stepped in to offer you any help.

I wish you well though and hopefully you get some good sense in your head!

I'm am saying this out of love honey....You do have a serious problem!

I think that no matter what your size, if you are happy with how you look then everyone else needs to keep their mouth shut about it!
It's your body, do with as you please, as long as you're healthy, then be proud of who you are, do not let anyone change the way you think and see yourself, I think that everybody is beautiful in their own way, no matter what your size may be!
I use to be 86 pounds, I was unhealthy and unhappy, now i'm 115 and couldn't be healthy'er OR happier!
Just walk proudly, head high, if they don't like the way you look?? then F$^* THEM!

Hey Kayla, it's just too easy for you. Cut out the carbs and red meat, leave the Chevy at home, and walk walk walk, run run run! For a few weeks!
Best wishes.

Man, skinny is just so hot. If a skinny girl walked into a room, the plump women would bark up a storm, literally, but the guys would fantasize immediately. It is a hot look. Unhealthy is not good, but doesn't mean it isn't hot.
Lilly sweetheart, your personality is what would make you hot. Being skinny just attracts the attention, and it might be attention you are not ready for or know how to deal with. I think it is admirable for you do so much to look good for a guy and you'll make some one very happy later.

Dear Girl,
I feel so sorry to see you like this, starving oyurself to death, yet you think it's great. It is the biggestirony of all.Isn't it enough that people make comments behind your back. And trust me, if you continue like this, you will DEFINETELY GET VERY SICK and MOST PROBABLY DIE SOON!
Please talk to somebody!
Posted by sokolica  on  Fri Dec 15, 2006  at  08:42 AM
Yeah, they make comments like, "gee she's hot", "wish my girlfriend would care enough about what I want to lose 10 or 30 pounds", and "What's the PC thing to say so my girlfriend won't feel guilty or ashamed".
Keep seeing a doctor just in case to make sure you don't go too far though. Being sick is not sexy.
Do you do modeling in LA? I would love to sculpt you.

Nico,

It's not up to me to decide if you are attractive or not. There are those that will think your are attractive and those who do not (my husband is one of the latter, but would not be rude). Attractiveness is not going to keep you alive if your body doesn't have enough support (nutrition or exercise wise) to keep the heart muscle healthy. Please remember that although Karen Carpenter did lose a lot of weight, her death was from losing heart muscle, so thin and small isn't necessarily healthy, no matter what the look.

I, for one, hope you do well whatever you choose to follow, and my opinion about your appearance isn't necessary for you to live a full and happy life.

The social stigma that pushes young women to warp, distort or deform their bodies based on asthesic assumptions is dangerous and irresponsible. However, all of you must be aware and understand that just because a woman is skinny, this does not necessarily mean that she means to be, or that she has done this to her self. Have you considered genetic predesposition? Malnutrition due to financial reasons? How about metabolism? Disease?
I am twenty-three, five feet tall and 85 pounds. I excersize, I eat more than most people twice my size and I'm healthy. I danced in ballet for fourteen years. I am quite aware that I am extremely thin, I also carefuly monitor my diet to be sure that I get at least 2,500 calories a day. I want to gain weight, but for me that's just as difficult as it is for some people to lose weight. Not because of a mental disorder, but because of a very real psychical predesposition to being thin.
Please consider all possible reasons before pointing at a thin person and screaming 'anorexic!'. For those of us who actually want to gain weight, this is insulting and unecessary. What's more, for those that are genuinely in need of help, how does your berating them help them at all?
As you can see, I'm thin, but not going to break in half any time soon!

Oestaira-

are you sure you weigh 85?

You look like you are a very healthy size....

You dont look "extremely" thin,
not in that picture, at least.

you look cute and robust and healthy.
Slim but not "skinny".

You look great,
i dont see why anyone would suggest you looked
'too thin'.

why would you want to gain weight?

You look very nice and appear to be at a good weight.

Nico--Here's a more recent pic of me.
I, for one, don't thik I'm dangerously skinny. I could stand to put on a little weight, just for my own satisfaction, but I don't think there is anything wrong with how I am now. I'm very content with who I am, mind body and soul, however, there are a great number of people who have given me nasty looks, rude comments, and flat out wouldn't accept that I'm not anorexic. In today's society, you're either pressured to be skinny or ostracized for BEING skinny.

Girl-

You are absolutely stunning.

Yes, in this picture you look thinner than you do in the bikini one,
probably because of the pose in that one.

however-
Your slender size suits you....

You remind me of a very young bebe neuwirth-
you look lovely and lithe.

The world is the rock and the hard place.
Youre damned if you do , damned if you dont no matter what you do or who you are....
weight is not the only area in which is shifty human beings kick eachother whether theyre up or down.

Dont let anyone make you feel un-beautiful-
for if they try,
uts merely a reflection of their own
self loathing.

Youre beautiful and slim....

some woman are just naturally that.

No-
You do not look ill and anyone who says you do is a jerk who is envious.

You look healthy and gorgeous.

Never listen to nay sayers.

Nico--Thanks for your encouragement =) Unfortunately, our society will most likely never get over the preocupation with attractiveness, I can only hope that people become more educated about what is actually 'healthy' and understand that even if you are 80 pounds or 200 pounds, you can be healthy and beautiful. I also hope that some day the taboo and misunderstandings of genuine eating disorders will be lifted and those that actually suffer from these very real conditions receive the help and compassion that they desperately need and deserve.

Hey, I'm Emily and I just need to talk some body.. I never dared to tell this to anybody. But I don't know you, and you don't know me, that feels safe... So here it comes...

I'm going crazy! On one side I want to be skinny!!! And I want to loose at least 8 pounds. But at the other side I know how bad it is for you... And I'm just 15 years old, if I would eat to less fat (eww gros!!) and drink too less milk I know that I will never grow tall... And my bones will break much easier when I'm old... But I want to be skinny! Regular diets don't work with me... I don't know what it is, but I just don't loose weight. I try to eat between 1000 and 1200 cals a day (I know, it's very much to some of you, but I can't eat less, or my parents will notice) and I exercise as much as posible. I do between 100 and 500 sit-ups a day, 100 leg exercises and some push-ups. Further I go to school by my bike and train three times a week hockey and one time tennis.
If I eat more I feel really bad, and hate myself. (I do that to if I look at the mirror). I used to throw up if I thought I ate too much, but I quit that because it's soo bad for you... I didnn't loose weigt, but I did loose 3 centimeters.. But that's way to less... Actually that's nothing..
I don't know what to do.. My parents are getting all worried and watch me all the time. What do I do???
Please give me some advise
(I'm sorry for my English, I'm not very good at it... I'm Dutch)

Emily,

I agree fully with Oestaira, it is possible to be 80 pounds or 200 pounds and still be healthy and very much beautiful. I can't imagine the stress and misery you are causing yourself over 8 pounds. My advice to you is this, stop fussing over 8 pounds, eat healthy and in moderation, but eat well. Get out and walk, hike, bike, jog, play sports, go horseback riding, swimming or do volunteer work. Stop forcing yourself through 500 sit ups if you don't enjoy it. Get out and have fun, eat well and meet people and please stop worrying over your weight. We as people are all different, it the very thing that makes up beautiful. I am a 16 year old male, 6 feet 3 inches, and 130 pounds, you can see several ribs, but I eat what I want and I stay active. People like to pick on me for being so skinny, but I honestly don't care what they say, I am happy.

First of all, anorexia nervosa is a mental disorder. You can have anorexia and be 300 pounds. You can have anorexia and over eat. Anorexia is a disorder of the mind where the person believes themselves to be morbidly obese or larger than is attractive, no matter their weight. People with anorexia will always feel 'fat' even as they are dying of malnutririon. Even though it is a mental disorder is has vern real physical manifestations and symptoms and treatment should be sought immediately.
Hannah--there are some very good support groups both online and offline for women who need help with their unrealistic body images. Be happy with who you are. Do not compromise your health or values just to be what you believe is attractive. Your body will grow old and frail, just like everyone else's and you'll find that physical beauty isn't nearly as important as you once thought. Be good to yourself and your body.

Please dont spread ignorance.
If you dont know what youre talking about, dont say anything at all.

No you CAN NOT have anorexia and be overweight lol.

The DIAGNOSTIC CRITERIA FOR ANOREXIA
include a BMI OF BELOW 17.

This means you have to be UNDER 100 POUNDS to have anorexia unless you are OVER 5'8.

are you retarded?
No you CANNOT have anorexia and over eat OR not be underweught lol.

And no,
anorexia is not just a mental thing lol

its a chemically caused disease which is genetically transferred and ONLY 1%-4-% OF THE POPULATION HAVE IT.
Posted by nico  on  Mon Jun 04, 2007  at  11:38 PM
Sorry if that sounded rude,
I just have a hard time with people talking about things which they know nothing about
and speaking as though they do.

This is ignorance breeding ignorance

Nico--Please refer to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anorexia_nervosa
You are only speaking of the physical representation of anorexia.
People with this disorder do not start skinny. They become skinny because of their unrealistic body image.
Please research and understand a topic before you decide to call someone 'retarded'.

Youre AN IDIOT.

AND YOU ARE WRONG LOL

THERE IS ONLY ANROEXIA NERVOSA
NOT A MENTAL AND PHYSICAL SEPARATE DISEASE.

THE DSM DIAGNOSTIC CRITERIA FOR ANOREXIA INDICTATE THAT IF ANYTHING YOU HAVE "EDNOS":

NOT ANOREXIA IF YOUR BMI IS NOT BELOW 17

STOP SPREADING YOUR IGNORANCE!!!!!!

Please research and understand a topic before you decide to SPEW BULLSHIT ABOUT WHICH YOU KNOW NOTHING AT ALL

fucking IDIOT. (olestariea)

The DSM diagnostic criteria for anorexia nervosa include:
1. BMI of BELOW 17.5
2. You no longer get your period for at least 3 consecutive months
3. Even though your BMI is BELOW 17.5, you still do not think you are
