Chicken or rat?
Could you tell chicken from rat when it's been properly prepared and cooked? (Perhaps not suitable for those of a nervous disposition.)
That must be rather embarrassing... (the wrong email thingy one)

I suppose it would be pretty embarassing (as well)to find you had eaten a rat meal, thinking it was chicken (not to mention disgusting :O (ain't there a blowing-chunks smiley out there somwhere?) :cheese:

Hmm. What have the rats been eating? If it's trash & yuck, their meat would not taste good. But if they've been raised for food, it would probably be OK. Possibly like rabbit (another rodent.)

Actually, rabbits aren't rodents - they're in the Lagomarpha order, family Leporidae.
Sorry. Pedantism, I know.

Didn't rat meat used to be for sale in America--called Star Meat?

Rat basically tastes like squirrel. Sort of greasy.

Does this mean that without knowing it I could have been eating chicken all this time?

If you stick to eating the wings, chances are it's chicken.

Rat meat based foods are often prescribed by Chinese traditional doctors for men with infertility and suchlike problems - With good reason; Rat meat is high in testosterone and low in cholesterol. And usually the rats are bred for the table.
