New York Puppet Library
When I came across this page descriping puppet lending librariesone in Boston and another one in New York I thought it had to be a joke. Especially given the New York puppet library's location: inside a memorial arch. But apparently these are real. A google search brings up quite a few articles about the New York puppet library, including this one from Time Out New York Kids: It's nice to know there's a place to go if you ever need to borrow a puppet.

One of my life goals is to run and/or fund a pet library for kids. Basically, there would be all sorts of different sorts of pets, and kids can borrow them for a week or so.Posted by Taed on Fri Aug 25, 2006 at 10:49 PM
I know my local library has about 250 puppets in the Children's section. I don't think it is all that rare.Posted by deja pooh on Wed Aug 30, 2006 at 03:26 PM
The Puppeteer's Cooperative Puppet Library is currently being housed at Brooklyn College since the arch was in need of some repairs.Posted by Juliana Cope in Brooklyn NY on Thu Apr 16, 2009 at 03:49 PM
There is also a puppet lending library in Pittsburgh, PA known as Puppets for Pittsburgh. We have over 200 giant puppets in our collection, and frequently offer free workshops on how to build puppets. Hope you'll check us out on Facebook:Posted by Puppets for Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, PA on Thu Mar 24, 2011 at 11:50 AM
