Marijuana at Target

image This is either a prank by a low-level employee, or some kind of error. Target.com apparently is selling marijuana for only $25.25 (how much do you get for that price?). The link might be dead pretty soon, so here's a screen cap. Of course, Target does have a garden department, so maybe it's real... (via Boing Boing)

Well, according to the bit under the "Shipping Info" tab, "Estimated Ship Dimensions : 956 hundredths-inches length x 672 hundredths-inches width x 41 hundredths-inches height". 😊

According to Adam Kalsey, this fascinating item is actually some Amazon book. Apparently, not all of the product data is showing up here.

It's a book. Anything Amazon offers is visible through the Target website.

Here's the link to Amazon. If you google ASIN# 0823916839 you'll find more.

I love how the Reading Level is listed as "Young Adult".

You're telling me that a book with comments on it like "I got this book from my peeps just the other dizzle. After I learned how to roll one phat doob, I got so wasted I was flyin like handi-man. Then I got the munchies and ate the book. Now I need another." is a real book?

Maybe all the comments are jokes, but I'd think that there'd be real comments in the mix if it was a real book.

Oh, and by the way...not only can you buy Marijuana, you used to be able to get Anal Massage for $36.

"Marijuana" is still available on Target's web site as of midday Monday (11-29-2004). I notice next to the "marijuana" listing it says "Browse similar items: Substance abuse." It gets less exciting after that, though: all the "Substance Abuse" items are actually books.
So I guess what you get for $25.25 is a book entitled "Marijuana." Free shipping, though.

I e-mailed Target and got the reply that yes indeed, it is a book. Here's their message in reply to my e-mail. Funny thing is I just told them that the link was there and that I thought it was funny...

Thanks for taking the time to share your concerns.

In order to offer you the broadest selection possible, Target.com provides links to thousands of items from Amazon.com. We maintain the highest standards for our selection, and we regret that on

We take your feedback very seriously and we are currently looking into the matter.

"In order to offer you the broadest selection possible"

Cool.

So ... are some people telling Target they're offended that Target's selling a book about marijuana?
What a pity.
Don't tell me what I can't read and I won't tell you what you can't read.

Or at least a full screen capture??

It's too compressed, and I was looking for something full-size. I found someone with a copy.

A year or so ago, I stumbled upon a even funnier situation involving Amazon being used as a backend for someone's store. It was an ostensibly Christian family book store, with very family friendly looking graphics of parents reading to their children and crosses and what not, only, as I said, it was just a front end slapped on top of Amazon (I guess Amazon allows people to do that, like with their referral program thingy).

Every product that Amazon sold was available though this store, and of course they sell lots of things of decidedly un-Christian and un-family-friendly natures. So you could have hours of wacky fun making links to a Christian bookstore selling Satanic Bibles or Playboy videos.

That site unfortunately doesn't exist anymore, but if anyone is bored, I bet you could find other similar sites out there, probably by Googleing for lines from Amazon search result pages.

Did anyone save the screen for the Target blow job sale in the days following the marijuana sale? It was a big hit when a friend posted a link, but it has been removed since then.

Yeah, this was one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time. How could target.com actually let products like these make it onto their site? lol
