Kobe Bryant Jumps Over a Car

The latest viral video going around shows Kobe Bryant jumping over a moving Aston Martin. Is it real? I doubt it, though I can't definitively prove it's fake.

Think about it. Why would he risk his career by trying to jump over a car? That's what special effects are for.

A better quality version of the video can be seen at Bryant's website.

If you want to see a real video of someone jumping cars, here's Joey Gathright's video. This was a couple of years ago:

An alternate ending is on SI.com in the hot clicks section. He isn't so successful in that one

Okay, I've read everyone's reasons and observations above, then watched this over and over again and I have to say that I think it's real.

I don't see any removal of shadows or changes in density either. If the car had been moving any slower he'd have landed in the back seat. The car is VERY small and the roof down so it was really only about 4 feet off the ground to begin with. At the speed the car was going, it's length was reduced to nearly one-half.

Sorry, this looks real to me, and a good ad for the makers of the tennis shoes.

Hard to say if it is real or not. But if he did jump it he did so at the right end corner of the car. Before he jumps his left foot is at the lower end of the street lamp shadow. When the car passes its right front tire passes through the same spot. BTW the shadow of the street lamp DOES go over the car but Kobe's shadow couldn't because it is at the left of the car (where it should be). So I would lean more towards real but that he jumped it over the right side door of the car.

A magician told me how he did this. What you didn't see off the camera was how Kobe was cloned using a large petri dish. The jumper is actually the cloned Kobe and doing it in this manner means he did not violate his NBA contract or his insurance policy stipulations.

Off camera, the real (and tall) Kobe gets out of the trunk of the Aston Martin.

Don't you hate it when a perfectly good trick is ruined for you?

The giveaway is the shitty acting by Ronni T. I'm being dead serious about it... It's totally insincere. "I don't know if you should do this, man..." C'mon...

What's scary about this is just how real it DOES look. They will be able to do anything with FX and graphics in the very near future. Somebody could easily put an innocent person in prison with this kind of technology. Imagine if they put you in some video showing you murdering somebody....And no, I'm not some conspiracy-theory dude; I think most of that shit is jive, but the ability to make things in video look so real could be used for some evil things indeed...

Now I know that Kobe can jump high enough to clear a car, I mean the dunk he did last night vs. the nuggets in game 2 proved he can fly high. I am not doubting his ability, but as far as this video is concerned the car and Kobe were in the same parking lot at the same time, but when he jumps pause it and you can tell that Kobe is not directly in front of the car, then push play again and as he sails over head his shadow is on the side of the car, which physically means when he jumped he was actually next to the car, not directly overhead. And I know he said in his interview he did jump over the car, technically he did from a certain point of view, and that point of view is the cameras, LOL. But come on people he has lied before, I mean the man cheated on his wife, and denied it, then got a strike of conscience and decided to tell the truth, well lets wait a few days and maybe he will say its fake, I mean he also said "this is Hollywood baby, you know what we do here." So go figure.

Haven't we all learned by now that more and more advertisers are using viral videos to create hype about their products? Remember the "Bride Meltdown" video posted on YouTube last year by Sunsilk? http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20070201/You_tube_folo_070201

Kobe is hocking Vitamin Water; this video was clearly a precursor to the campaign featuring Bryant. And no, Kobe didn't really jump over that car.

a bit of math would allow some one to figure how fast the car needs to go for him to jump it.

The man can clearly jump "very" high. figure how high he can jump, how much hang time he has, how tall the car is, and from there they should be able to figure how fast the car needs to go for him to jump it.

In regards to the SHADOW. The Ashton Martin's right fender goes right over the same shadow Kobe was standing on. so he didn't jump the center of the car.

As stated, "Kobe can jump "very" high" and Lambos, ferraris, Salines and those kind of Ashton Martins are about as tall as a Toyota Carolla.
