Gross Candy

The Strange New Products blog has word of two new gross faux foods. First there's Harry Potter's Cockroach Clusters from Cap Candy. "The juicy gummy underbelly is covered with a crunchy candy shell, just like real cockroach wings." Yum. I definitely have to try some of those. Then there's ABC Gum. The ABC stands for "Already Been Chewed." "ABC Bubble Gum is a brand new novelty bubble gum that has been formed to look exactly like a piece of gum that's ALREADY BEEN CHEWED!!" I would love to offer that to unsuspecting guests.

I don't think I could bring myself to eat anything that looks like a cockcroach!

I'll take a pass on this lucious treat an its "crispy outer shell" too.

I checked out that strange new products blog and saw that they had the "tofu human flesh" on there. Was that ever declared a hoax? Somebody, tell me that's a hoax.

Concerning the ABC Gum. If I may paraphrase South Park:

"Tiny Toons Did It!!!"

In the episode where they did a take-off/tribute to Saturday Night Live (which featured a Bart Simpson knock off as "guest host" ironicaly), one of the skits was a commercial for "Already Been Chewed Gum."

ABC gum has been around longer than any of you youngsters (probably as long as gum has been around).
...
Back in the 70s, several companies marketed new "soft" bubble gums. My reaction, and that of my friends, was that if we wanted ABC gum, we wouldn't have to pay for it.
I notice chewing gum is seldom advertised for its softness anymore, so I guess a lot of people agreed.

Around the same time, there was a gum that was designed with a liquid center, so it would squirt fluid in your mouth when you bit into it.
It was popularly known among teenagers as ... you guessed it, "Come gum."

Real cockroach wings have a crunchy candy shell? Damn, you could wipe those critters out with a platoon of three-year-olds.

"Cockroach Cluster" is mentioned as one item of a chocolate assortment in the Monty Python skit known as "Crunchy Frog". (There is nothing new under the rock.)

I have swapped gum with people, just to freak other people out. It wasn't that bad. Had a little tickle in my throad the next day (from trading germs), but it otherwise wasn't a bad experience.

Why eat fake cockroaches when you can have the real thing?

100 million cats can't be wrong!

Here is another good use of ABC gum: http://www.chewbynumbers.com.

You still chew the gum but then you make art when you are done. I bought a couple kits and they are great.
