Giant Cowgirl

Status: Real
imageHere's a picture going around of a giant cowgirl. As far as I can tell, it's real (i.e. not photoshopped). But the trick, I think, is that the woman on the left is posing beside particularly short women, thereby making herself look bigger. If you look at the refrigerator in the background, she seems to be just slightly taller than it, which would put her (I'm guessing) at around six-and-a-half feet. That's tall, but not gigantic. I don't think she's as tall as Heather Haven, whose picture is in one of my hoax photo tests. (via SnarkySpot)

As you say, Alex, it could be real. If you put me next to some smallish people (I'm about 6 foot 3 inches tall), I look like a giant, too. No camera tricks needed.
The large woman is also slightly in front of the other women, and more brightly lit, both of which tend to make her look bigger and them look smaller.

I vote real. As I am only 5 feet tall, I know what it's like to see pictures like this. I actually have a friend that's 6ft 11'. It's great getting pics of the two of us together because my head is usually at his belly button. The picture makes me look VERY small and him look VERY big. I don't see why it can't be the same in this one.

The photo of the Sasquatch with the girls is real, but the trick is that she's posing with girl midgets. BTW, I'll take the midget on the right, please.

Same here.. I'm 5'1", hubby is 6'2". We've got hundreds of pictures just like that. It is a funny juxtoposition, though!

Did nobody look at the link I posted?

I hadn't before, but I did now. Guess she is just really big then.

How did you find that link? Do a search for 'giant cowgirl'?

Get me the phone number of the one on the right and you are my God.

Eh they're probably fake.

(I'm talking about the girl on the right, not the photos)

Also I'd like to point out that the Big Girl has chosen to stand next to the Smallest Girl to further emphasize the wonder of variety in this human race of ours.

also, Alex, the Heather Haven website doesn't work anymore. :(

I don't care if they are fake, the one on the right is HOT and I like cowgirls, especially the way they ride. 😜

lol craig!

I think it makes her especially tall as she is stood next to the shortest of the short people. I look like a friggin giant next to 2 of my mates, both of them are like 4ft 5 I think. I'm 5ft 7.

Alex, it was on another message board that I go to about two months ago, someone on there found the other pictures.

I'm really not sure how they came across them.

Here's my very own giant picture:

http://arizona.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=30138898&l=21fbb

And we aren't even that far apart in hight (I'm 5ft, he's probably about 6"1'). Like I said before, I have a friend who is 6"11. Unfortunately all my pics with him have me standing on a chair or our just our heads or something. Also he's pretty skinny so it doesn't give the giant effect. However, you can easily see that if he was 6 or so inches bigger it would definitely look out of proportioned.

I appologize profusely for that horrible sundevil that's in the picture.

Yes, she is large. But in other pictures that look like this, you have to be aware of the 'Ames Room' perspective effect. (Google 'Ames Room' for examples.) This effect is most dramatic in an actual Ames Room, but it can happen by accident, where there's a lack of clues to help you place the figures in depth. Not being able to see the floor or ground between the figures can be a factor - the 'enormous bear' in the Hoax Photo Test benefits from this.

Yeah, it's real just look at the fridge in the background like he said... Not that proves it to me that she is as tall as they say.

I call fake. There seems to be some photoshop trickery going on.

Look at the one where she is standing with the girl in purple (http://community.webshots.com/photo/475234885/475383965qmcfsa) Someone has blackened over space above the girl in purple's head, which could have just been covering something in the background, but it could have been from trying to shrink her too.

Also, look at this one (http://community.webshots.com/photo/475234885/475383246XljksJ)
Check out the background behind the girl on the right, as well as where her hat seems to intersect with the giant girls shoulder.

You might need to turn your monitor contrast way up to see all this, btw.

No, if you look again at the second picture, follow the back brim around, and you'll see it's folded down to a point.

On the second pic, I have no idea what you're talking about, even with my contrast turned up. I think you're perhaps just seeing variations in the dark.

Er, that should have been second pic, than first pic. Sorry!

On that second picture, look at how the giant girl's shoulder is somehow intersecting with the top of the brown hat. Her arm somehow goes around the top of the hat and then around behind it.

And I guess I meant adjust your brightness, not contrast. If you turn it way up, you can see that someone just used a black paintbrush on the background. On a normal CRT monitor you might not see it, but on my laptop it's extremely obvious.

This picture is a fake. Copy it into a good graphics program and you'll see the inconsistancies...mostly in the shadows. For example, the big girl's standing in front of a breakfast bar with the fridge in the background, but the shadow looks like it's right on the fridge. The three smaller girls have hat shadows like the big girl. It looks like they were standing against a wall, then they were superimposed into this other room. The shadows are all wrong and telling. "The Shadow Knows!" Next, look at the big girl's waist and the little girls shoulder. Zoom in and you can't see any definite shoulder or shirt fabric on either girl. It's all blurry. It's the samewhere the big girl's hand is on the smaller girl's shoulder, and how the plaid doesn't match up on the 3rd girl. Finally look at the ceiling. Why is the ceiling to the right so much lower than the kitchen ceiling? Come on! This is an obvious fake...a good one, but a fake.
