Fat Dog

image Kentaro Mori of Liquito sent me this picture (click thumbnail to enlarge) of a very fat dog. He says that he found it on a Japanese website. My hunch would be that there's no photo trickery involved here. It really is a very fat dog. Probably comes from the same household as Munchkin the Monster Cat.

>>>other animals have been known to eat dog food & above normal agressiveness was observed.<<<

Never heard that one.

Wait--taurine? The same stuff in my Red Bull? Where do cats naturally get it?

Related to the "eating pigeons" story, Louisiana is encouraging its citizens to eat nutria, an exotic giant rodent (up to 20 pounds) that has become a pest there.

And dogs evolved to eat human garbage, as extensively discussed in a different area here. They've been scavenging around human settlements for at least 50,000 years.

Cats get taurine from mice. So, if you're tired of paying the price for Red Bull, just eat mice. (I'm kidding, okay? I don't actually know). But, I do know that my cats aren't total omnivores, because they'll bug me during my (vegetarian) dinner. They eat zucchini, tomatoes, corn, green beans, rice, and even saurkraut! Goofy cats! I've heard cats can't taste sugar, but they've gotten into the chocolate before. They also know how to open cupboards, drawers, and the refrigerator. And they hate dogfood...turn up their noses at it, while the dog will gladly eat catfood. Dogs can survive on a strict vegetarian diet, cats cannot. The lack of complex proteins can make them go blind. And make them break more antiques than ever before.

That is just so sad! Its owners must be gobbleguts or careless and lazy. M y dogs, Zeffy and Tishkin would never get as fat as that! Ally my cat lazes around though, but she chases birds. I'll never do that to MY pets: Cider and Greatheart(horses) Honey Bunny, Biscuit (guinea pig) nor Zeffy, Ally or Tishkin. I have a great big farm and lots of pets!

That's disgusting. I've seen some overweight dogs in my time, but not THAT overweight. His owners probably feed him pizza and ice cream because they can deny him nothing when he turns those limpid eyes on them.

I believe that in order to be a good dog owner, you have to be a bit hard-hearted. Not abusive mind you, but not so soft that you go to pieces when they give you "the look" (you dog owners will know what I'm talking about).

Just this last Fourth, I saw a couple feeding their cocker spaniel ice cream and wanted to scream at them.

A co-worker once told me about a couple that had a huskey puppy that they fed ice cream, EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. They had to put him down before he was two because he was so sickly from it.

Hopefully there are dog owners out there who realize that food =/= love.

Dogs shouldnt be fat, however cute it is. But I draw the line at people. People should be fat if they want and skinny if they want. Just ticks me off to see people every day going 'skinny is sexy' pssssh. I'de never date a skinny guy...bleck. Lets just say if I were a dog, this guy would be a perfect match. Besides, 60% of America is fat and its spreading to Europe...were winning.

A dog's friend is fatter than that dog, he told me: "I make it fat like that in 4 months feeding him with a lot of spaghetti, hamburguers, pizza and cake" and his dog still growing and fattening up with that food, his dog is lovely and very, very fat; with some pounds more his weight will be 180 pounds, I swear it! 😊

How now, round Chow? I fed my tiny weiner (Chihuahua-Dachshund mix) nut'n but people food, yet he stayed skinny the whole time I had him, and he only got the squirties when he ate something he wasn't used to. The key: he got plenty of EXERCISE. It's a shame that more humans, myself included, don't follow that simple plan. Maybe then we wouldn't cop out by pointing the chubby finger in the direction of Mikki D's, which actually offers a number of low-cal items like chicken salad and diet drinks, and allows us to buy as much or as little as we desire, as often or as seldom as we choose. 😛

That is sad. very sad. I hate that people would eat dogs. I told my mom that and she said its because they dont have pig and cow. i think its true what she said but that doesnt give a right to eat dog, cat, and rabbit. They should be eating greens and frut...not animals that could rescue you in a nature accident. dogs have no reason to be that fat... poor dog, i bet it's suffering

Psycologists say that you should'nt allow dogs to wear cloathes because it disrupts the smell and look of the dogs so that they don't recognise eachother, and that it is dimeaning to the dog. But i'd like to see a pet owner that refuses to wash they're dog and also one that won't brush they're dog or style they're hair. I find it strange. Any thoughts?

I think that you all should stop cutting on people who actully like to feed there animals to make sure that they have a full belly and like you other people who keep there pets looking like anorexic

That is one of the saddest pics I have ever seen. That poor dog as no life being that over weight, Makes you think would the owner do that to a human being, No thorght not. I class that as animal crulty

First off, canines and human have the same dietary needs. And even though both are omnivores, that omanly means that they can eat both plants and meat, meat is the main food.

Second, all those health problems, how can you say accuratly that they are caused by being fat. Diebeties is caused when there is more glucose then insulen, iow starch and suger which comes from sweats, grains, and potatoes. Chelesteral gets added into so much food as does so many chemicals which aren't even supposed to be there. And transfats aren't natural, so our body has no clue what to do with it.

And about the whole animals don't have choice or don't get plesure out of food, that is a load of crud. What makes humans so special? I've seen some animals that are so picky that they will only eat one type of food and they can tell if you give them some thing else.

But chances are most of you people are just going to listen to what some scientest says instead of thinking for your self and use common sense.

I was watching the news one day, and there was this story about how dogs are actually able to fly. I beleive this theory. Infact, for the past 3 years, I've been throwing dogs off of cliffs in hopes that they fly. You should try it to!
