Eye of Sauron Prank
Pranksters at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign recently added the Eye of Sauron to the McFarland Memorial Bell Tower. The tower looks like it was designed to host it. The Daily Illini reports that those responsible for placing the Eye on the tower remain unknown.

It does look fake. Even the bigger version.

I wonder if they played around with the picture to make it look even more Mordorish? Perhaps a fake background, or playing around with the tint, or something like that? It does almost look as though it's really just a model building. Perhaps it was just a really lucky camera shot, though.

I'm guessing they altered the colors in the photo to make the sky red.

It's no fake. I live in Champaign and saw this last week. Here's a different pic:

Oh and the "fake" look can be explained. The white light on the side of the tower is from lights on the ground of the construction area and as for the sky...well those are just the type of evening skies we have here in Champaign =D
