Cracked’s Top 10 Greatest Hoaxes

Cracked recently ran a list of the Top 10 Greatest Hoaxes. And for Cracked, it's a decent list. Which is to say that my expectations were pretty low, but they actually managed to choose some hoaxes which legitimately qualify as classics. Until you get to #4 on the list, which sticks out like a sore thumb. It's the "NASA Moon Landing Hoax." What is that doing on the list? It would be relevant on a Top 10 Conspiracy Theories list, but not a Great Hoaxes list.

Conspiracy Theories

They were not actually suggesting that the moon landing was a hoax, more that the "there was no moon landing" people are hoaxers.

I get that they weren't saying the moon landing was a hoax, but even so, it doesn't belong in the list because the "moon landing was a hoax" people aren't hoaxing. They really believe that. So it's a conspiracy theory. Not a hoax.

I felt like a "hoax expert" while reading this article. I knew all the hoaxes, as I had read them all here at Museum of Hoaxes. 😛
