The Fake Acai Berry Diet Girl

Following up on Accipiter's post in the forum about the Acai berry weight-loss scam -- one of the interesting (and sleazy) things about the scam is the proliferation of fake diet blogs promoting these Acai berries. The sites go by names such as kirstensweightloss.com, rachelsweightloss.com, patdietblog.com, etc. etc.

The sites have before and after pictures of the Acai berry dieters, but pictures of the same women appear on different sites... under different names. For instance, the woman below, depending on which site you visit, is named Kirsten Hunt, Ann Conrad, Daniella Conrad, Jenna Patterson, and a bunch of other names.

But according to the Center for Science in the Public Interest, her real name is Julia. She's a german model who once posed for a stock photo and has never eaten Acai berries. According to the photographer who took the photos, the "after" photos have been digitally manipulated to make her look skinnier.

The wafflesatnoon blog has a collection of all the fake diet girls who are promoting Acai berries.

This pisses me off because the women doesn't need to lose weight. She is a normalsize in the actual photo. The digital manipulation shows a person who is skinnier then most people could ever be which accordin to the sleazy compan thats nomal and the first one is fat. It's no wonder that cases of anorexia are being seen in girls as younge as six.

The Acai Berry weightloss scam seems different than most scams. Acai berries are expensive and have beneficial properties (just not weight loss). It seems that they were trying to intentionally use the positive cache of acai but then tweak it. Part of scam is just the usual credit card scam (get free samples but send me your card number) but some really seemed to provide.

Oh wait Oprah was involved. Now I understand. It seems that companies selling acai products (legitimately) are going to take a big hit as people miss the message about the scams.

Personally, I had acai juice once. I did not like and it is way too expensive. Black currant juice is as crazy as I get.

I have a hard time feeling sorry for ANYONE who falls for these kinds of Internet advertising things. It's so obviously fake....

The "before" girl is clearly the hottest.

Don't do Acai berries. The description "plant that expels water" says it all.
After 3 months of Acai I found I could not produce saliva. This sounds OK but the actuality is horrible, swollen bleeding tongue, gum shrinkage etc. I had to sip water every 10min or so even during the night. It was a nightmare...

Some 6 months later, I'm starting to recover. I still have "bad" nights but thankfully it's getting better.
I've learnt a lesson. Don't believe the hype. If only I'ld listened to Flavor Flav...

I say we use the photos to promote the new PhotoShop diet.

Eat anything you want in any amount and don't bother exercising: Use digital photo manipulation to melt the pounds away.

That's a relief; the after picture has always been a bit creepy in an anorexic sort of way.

In the UK, these could probably be taken down because they are advertising, are fraudulent and fail the advertising standards regulations which require such things to be "legal, decent, honest and truthful".

I keep getting spam e-mail about Acai berries. They're really obnoxious.

I am confused now. Did these berries make her shirt red? That is too bad because she looks like a nice girl. In The Land of My Birth, girls who wear red shirts do so because of their passion for men whose names begin with "R", so if she did not get the berries on her shirt, Raoul could be aroused. So step back from the cliff, Cliff. Ha ha, don't get mad. Raoul is just getting down, okay? Rrrraoul

Hehe, I think "cowmen" is a better and more original insult. 😛

So I was on AOL when I see the Acai Berry hoax. Believe it or not, the after picture is my friends old Facebook picture! Can you believe them? It's ridiculous and I'm so sick of seeing it everywhere.

The Acai Berry has been given a bad name by these people. It makes it difficult to recognise a real product from a fake one

I love the way , when i access the Acai berry weightloss website, from different locations ,, the girls hometown miraculously becomes the same as the location of the internet server im using at that time. LOL

Anyone else notice that her hair on the lower left has EXACTLY the same curls in both the before and after pics. What are the ods of that!.. the front has be retouched .

I mean HOW DUMB DOES A PERSON HAVE TO BE TO NOT NOTICE THIS???
Posted by loserdave  on  Fri Dec 11, 2009  at  06:59 PM
Notice the curls on the top right side.... What are the odds they would remain exactly the same after a couple months and that they would be photographed from exactly the same angle?... what a SCAM!

Good to know what you're buying!
I hate to see people being cheated by not knowing a typical fruit of my country.
Americans do not know very well as Brazil and many have never heard.
But this is no reason to lie like this.

The digital manipulation is not showing a person who is skinnier then most people could ever be.
The third photo imo is still fat. This is called skinny fat. Fat but no muscle. Her arms are not toned at all. And you can see the fat in the armpit. The neck is not toned. The sternocleidomastoid muscle (neck muscle)is all covered up by fat, and the clavicle as well. When you get down to 4 % BF% without tons of muscle (exaggerating), you will see all those parts very appearing. And it's possible because I've seen a grown woman like that.

nutritionists dun know anything about microbiology so they dun know how our bodies treat those calories consumed. In fact, fat is not bad and being high in calories does not imply that it's fattening. Our bodies have all the hormones to regulate our appetite and metabolism. If we dun eat enough food ( or calories you say , which is just energy but still it's better to treat them food instead of energy) not only we won't lose weight, we 'll even mess up our bodies' hormone response, like slowing down your bowel movements, etc.

Even without the picture, I can't believe people fall for this... but the picture makes it obvious... if you look at the last photo, she has exactly the same amount of dimples / cheek bone fat; they made her face look slimmer from side to side without making it look slimmer from front to back. Plus how would her hair have stayed EXACTLY the same throughout all that time? Besides, she looked fine to begin with.

Lot of.dumb people with extremely low standards commenting here. The before pic is at least 40 LBS OVER WEIGHT and likely obese. Nothing healthy or good looking about that. It is amazing how lazy people.have.become and much excuse making they do.
