Gerrit forwarded links to radar maps showing some extremely unusual cloud activity over the Netherlands. I managed to visit the radar sites myself in time to see the unusual clouds. However, the maps have since
updated and are
no longer showing the same activity. But I can vouch that, for a while, they really were displaying the sudden appearance of a mysterious ring of clouds around the Netherlands. Screenshots of the radar image have been posted

here. Has anyone checked that the Netherlands are still around?

Looks like it was supposed to be a weather radar.
I'm guessing it screwed up or something. There's no way rain would suddenly cut itself off in an almost perfect circle.

This is a radar artifact, the "ring" is exactly the edge of the Dutch precipitation radar coverage (it's not clouds, it is precipitation - or rather not but an artifact in this case).

the site says that these kind of things occur more often, specially on sunny days, but rarely so extreme. It was some error in one of the meter-thingies

Oh, and that Zombie Preparedness Kit is great. However, as some commenters on that site have noted, four shells isn't quite enough. Unfortunately, the gun doesn't seem as though it would work well in close combat (as say, a Shaolin Spade would). By the way, anyone at all interested needs to pick up the Zombie Survival Guide (the best book ever)
I think it was to do with either seismic or electromagnetic technology, but one of the effects of it was large circular cloud formations in the area. And the sheep turned inside out 😉
OK that last bit was a bit rich, but I 50% sure the rest of its true.
The cloud formations would presumably have been on a much smaller scale than the pic above but there's no harm in getting hysterical about it.
It's not roost rings. Apart from being almost perfectly circular, it is too large (its radius is about 200 miles).

What else can be fun to see is when there are military exercises (or actual operations) going on, and they start using radar jammers or radar reflecting chaff and things like that. You can get some very funny looking results on the weather radar then.
