Lasik At Home

Status: Hoax
image I have pretty bad eyesight and have worn contacts most of my life, but up until now I've never been tempted to try Lasik surgery. However, I am tempted to give this new LASIK@Home device a try. It's the "Affordable In-Home LASIK Surgery You Can Do Yourself!™":

LASIK@Home is the same patented surgical procedure performed at eye clinics around the world, but without the unnecessary equipment and staff.

I like the instructions for use: "1) Find a quiet place with no distractions; 2) Unpack your LASIK@Home™ Kit; 3) Perform the painless procedure. Don't blink!"

It's pretty obvious that this is a hoax. First of all, the idea of home laser surgery is clearly insane. Second, the ordering form is broken, meaning you can't buy the device, but the site does sell Cafepress t-shirts! (T-shirt sales are always a reliable hoax indicator.) Third, google ads on a supposedly commercial site are another hoax giveaway. The domain was registered anonymously via domains by proxy, so I wasn't able to find out who the author of this is. (Thanks to Captain DaFt for the link.)

Wait a minute, the Museum of Hoaxes site has Google ads and a ptich for Cafepress T-shirts, so ... the Museum of Hoaxes is fake?
You mean all these "hoaxes" you've been telling us about aren't hoaxes at all?
So Britney Spears really did chew that gum?

Hey Big Gary, relax! Commercial sites sell their main product. The point of Museum of hoaxes is to not "Buy" a hoax. 😉

Kind of disappointing that the "do it yourself lasik kit" isn't real though, that thing would make an Ubergeek cigar lighter!

Well, he does have links to the books, as well as the shirts, but yes.

I suppose it's a good thing that this is *just* a hoax website.. The amount of damage that could be done otherwise would be catastrophic. There *are* people stupid enough to buy that, and if they'd used it, one can only hope that it was harmless.

I love how the Man who founded LASIK@Home wears glasses himself.

There's enough damage being done by some 'professionals' to people's eyes, however, for that enhancement you'll surely need, you can always attempt to buy another!

Only problem is...LASIK is nothing to joke about! http://www.lasiksucks4u.com

Darn right Lasik is nothing to joke about. Neither is joking about: lawyers, politicians, Canadians, toenail fungus, sperm whales, bathtubs, postal workers, elevators, getting hit in the nards...and anything else I deem inapropriate.

It's okay to joke about the Dutch though. I mean c'mon...they're Dutch.
