Unfortunate Last Names

I've always thought my last name was pretty bad. And I mean that in the literal sense. 'Boese' means 'bad' (or angry) in German. But its meaning wouldn't matter much if only English-speaking people could pronounce it (it's 'burr-za', as if it had an 'r' in it... not 'boose'). But I shouldn't feel too sorry for myself, because this guy in Brazil, Mr. Reinhardt Adolfo Fuck, has me beat hands down. As far as I can tell, that really is his name. He must get endless jokes about it.

Sorry, Salamandir. I refuse to believe that there was a girl at your mother's school named Heavenly Bosoms. Unless the girl was a pornstar, or something like that. I mean, first of all, I've never heard of anyone having the last name 'Bosoms.' But then to call your kid 'Heavenly' on top of that? No way.

Had a client by the name of Richard Head, he was a jr. and his son was the III. This is really a common name surprisingly. Also knew a guy named Nimrod in high school (he didn't even have a middle name to fall back on!). My ex-husband almost got himself fired when he was handed a check by a Mr.Penas. The clerks were required to thank customers by name and he just couldn't do it without laughing. A teacher I had also swore he had taught twins who had the first names Lemonjello and Orangejello.

This subject hits close to home. I am Richard Assmann, but go by Rick, not Dick. In Marine Corps boot camp I was introduced to a hillbilly from Arkansas with the last name Head. He went by Joe. You may also remember the Seinfeld episode or even another Richard Assmann (who goes by Dick) that owns a fgas station in NY state. He was interviewed by David Letterman.
