I don’t use a coffee press, but I do use a wire mesh filter for my drip coffee maker. And there IS a difference in the flavor of the coffee. (More full, less bitter)
My guess is that you merely bough another coffee plunger because you like the way it makes your coffee taste, and because you probably already have the perfect ground of coffee for it and so on. Hopefully this one will be easier to clean so You can at least rinse it out after every pot.
I don’t actually have the coffee I used to use for making plunger coffee. But I have been using instant coffee and even the good instant coffees can be a bit hard to drink after a while.
I live in a city that’s got a reputation for having high standards for coffee. Here in Melbourne we have many people from different ethnic backgrounds so the food and coffee landscape has been greatly affected by that. I’m a big coffee drinker myself. I can’t say I’m an aficionado of the Art of the Barista but I am fussy about coffee in my own way.
I enjoy a coffee that is not bitter but not weak either. If I can’t find a decent plunger coffee I might check out the more expensive coffee makers. Although I’m sure I can find some good plunger coffee again because I remember being able to taste examples of it in the city.
EDIT: My topic was on my buying a new version of what I originally stopped using. I think I’m starting to get obsessive about coffee. So I really do hope this new coffee plunger is easier to clean.
