I ended up watching Thor, too.  It was good, better than I’d expected.  Not that I’d really had much expectations, not having known anything about the comics.  Though that did leave me with several times where something happened in the movie, and I had the feeling that I was supposed to say, “Oh, yeah, it’s that guy from the comics!” or whatever, but I hadn’t a clue what I was supposed to be noticing.  Such as the character who briefly appeared with a bow and arrows.  I guess that they probably threw those bits in for the comic geeks, possibly to be expanded on in later movies.

And I thought that the Hulk reference was incredibly obvious, personally.  Heck, even I noticed it!  😉

Hawkeye is the guy with the bow and arrow. And, of course, the Hulk is referenced. Both are members of The Avengers (movie next summer, I believe) with Iron Man (referenced as Tony Stark - who is known to be Iron Man), Thor and Captain America (movie in another month or two). Black Widow is also part of The Avengers. She was played by Scarlet Johannsen in Iron Man 2.

Well, Hawkeye is not a name I recognise from the superhero world, so I suppose that it would have been lost on me even if he’d been a major character.  Though. . .I seem to recall once hearing of a Hawkman?  I’d look it up, but a) it’s more fun to find out about the characters when I watch the movies so that I don’t know what’s going to happen beforehand, and b) I’ve discovered that, given the various alternate storylines and re-boots and retrofitting, trying to look up stuff about these comic books is about on par for difficulty with convincing the Palestinians and Israelis to get along in peace and brotherhood.  If not more so.

That I don’t know. It’s been many, many, many years since I was really into comics. And SHIELD and Nick Fury were not ones I was into.

And Hawkman is DC Comics, I believe, as I remember him from the Super Friends on Saturday morning. Thor, Avengers and the rest spoken of here are Marvel.

I just purchased Taking Woodstock from the local video store on clearance and was pleasantly surprised at how well made it was. Of course, you guys have to remember that I am a tie dye junkie and a hippie at heart even though I missed the actual lifestyle by a few years and by (not so much) luck of the draw with regard to parents. Even so, I enjoyed the movie and got a feeling that they really made an effort to portray things as they were. Anyhow, my 2 cents about that… Peace
