As people may or may not know, Accipiter won’t be seen around the forum for a few weeks.  This is because he’s gone to Kashmir on relief work relating to the earthquake that hit the area on October 8 and doesn’t expect to have much in the way of internet access.

However, he has been in contact (not directly, unfortunately) and has asked if I would post this request asking for donations to help with the effort.  Acci says that medicines & food are in short supply, helicopters & tents even more so.

If anyone wants to make donations (or wants to know what’s happening in Kashmir) this Quake blog is apparently a good place to start.

PS: This topic has been approved by Alex, so please don’t go deleting it.

I’ve donated money, not exaclty a lot, but all I had at the time. I didn’t know he’d gone out there, it’s really brilliant he has.

...Damn, and I just used up my last helicopter.

Just kidding…I did donate thru our church who is supporting some people in the area to help.

I haven’t donated because, as you may or may not know, I’m on half pay this month, so I’m barely scraping food and rent.
However, the day my pay comes in (28th, I think), I shall be donating.

Ditto to what Maegan said about donations…but, I’ll look the “quake blog” over some more and see what I can do. Bless him for his efforts…obviously, I don’t know him or know anything about him. But, doing a good work like this speaks volumes about his character. May his time there be safe.

Update

Acci’s been in touch (yay!).  He’s doing as well as can be expected in the current conditions.  Unfortunately, original relief aid plans haven’t been going very well with helicopters being grounded due to bad weather, and roads collapsing as fast as they can be cleared.  Not to mention that food, water and medical supplies are short, as is shelter and manpower to build shelter.

He’s also managed to acquire a herd of yaks…or possibly dzo…

I have yaks!  Winona, Flora, Tru, Maegan, Dee, Erika, Diana and Sarah send
you their greetings—or rather, their grunts.  I think they’re actually dzo rather than true yaks, but they still look and act properly yakky.  They’re all a very very dark brown-black overall.  Sarah has a white spot on her
forehead and a very sweet disposition (naturally!).  I’ll try to avoid making too many comments about the size of Sarah’s udders, or riding on Flora, or about how horny Winona is (she has some rather impressive horns
indeed!), or Dee’s hairy legs and armpits.

Really had to laugh over that!

He’s such a man to be able to herd 10 women around and make them do his bidding like that.  He’s an inspiration to us all.
