Having had a brief look at the other items, ahem, on sale, i’d guess at weird sicko’s that get their kicks looking at the insides of their g/friends. But saying that people do all sorts now-a-days, so at least there is somewhere where the stuff can be purchased!

There’s a whole bunch of net kink in that kind of line….if you did a search you’d probably find a ton of pages.

Oh, and it says it is new in the writeup, not used.

If you think a vaginal speculum is weird, check his olther auctions, and you’ll see an enema kit right off.

As a net porn veteran, I can say that this is becoming almost mainstream now.

I’d be willing to bet home enemas are more common than vagina speculums.  Speculi.  Whatever.

Soldier: Oh, right. I forgot about the battle.

Specula.

You know, having waded through more than enough porn-spam in my time, I was quite aware of this particular kink. Yet upon seeing an actual speculum for sale I completely failed to make the connection. Everyone else is right, a brief look at the seller’s other auctions makes it obvious that this was meant as a sex-toy. I was brain-locked on an image of someone holding the speculum in one hand and a copy of “Gynecology for Dummies” in the other doing some DIY diagnosis on their significant other.

Mind you, anyway you look at it it’s pretty clinical. I mean, what’s wrong with using a couple of spoons when the mood takes you, huh? The main difference between sex-play and fetish is the amount of preparation that goes in beforehand. Tie your SO up with a dressing-gown cord and it’s sex-play; buy a 4’ spreader-bar with integral manacles the week before and it’s fetish. You’re so much more likely to get a partner to go along with a bit of sex-play, so from a purely selfish viewpoint spontaneity is the better course. The only trouble with being spontaneous is it takes a lot of planning if it’s going to look natural.

Having…ahem… seen one recently at my doctor’s office, I will say that here at least, they still tend to use the metal ones. Luckily nowadays they do tend to warm them up first, which is great. That wouldn’t be an issue with plastic disposable ones but…

Having the plastic ones seem pretty silly to me, they couldn’t be all that great for the job they do unless they were made of heavier plastic, which then brings up the needless disposal of zillions of pounds of excess plastics into landfills. I trust sterilization.

Agreed. I’ve only ever… um… seen metal ones too.
