It’s really annoying that I actually knew the number without looking, yet I have no idea whatsoever how the rest of the song goes.  I never listen to it but that number has lodged itself in my brain and won’t move on.  At least 748-1414 had a catchy tune to go with it, which any older North Texas residents might remember.

I’ve seen at least two plumbing companies advertise with that number in this area
(I think it’s the same company with a name change.)

(I’m in Arizona)

And frolicked in the autumn mist

He told her jokes and crazy facts
And other forum stuff

Traveled cross the sea,
To hunt her prey in foriegn lands,
And snuggle with Acci!

Smerk the cutest dragon
Is getting married now they say
Though little Accipiter
Has yet to name the day.

I’m really surprised more business don’t want the number, you’d think the extra novelty would be enough to make many people choose them over competitors.  I’m not sure what it says about the song that it’s apparently popular with plumbers, though.

Yeah, I was just going to ask why all these plumbing companies want it. Do the numbers spell out something pipe or sewer related?

Jenny, Jenny, who can I turn to?
You give me something I can hold on to.
I know you think I’m like the others before
Who saw your name and number on the wall

Jenny, I got your number,
I need to make you mine.
Jenny, don’t change your number,
8-6-7-5-3-0-9 (8-6-7-5-3-0-9)
8-6-7-5-3-0-9 (8-6-7-5-3-0-9)

Jenny, Jenny, you’re the girl for me.
You don’t know me but you make me so happy.
I tried to call you before but I lost my nerve.
I tried my imagination, but I was disturbed.

Jenny, I got your number,
I need to make you mine.
Jenny, don’t change your number,
8-6-7-5-3-0-9 (8-6-7-5-3-0-9)
8-6-7-5-3-0-9 (8-6-7-5-3-0-9)

I got it, I don’t got it!
I got your number on the wall!
I got it, I got it!
For a good time, for a good time call….

Jenny, don’t change your number.
I need to make you mine.
Jenny. I’ll call your number,
8-6-7-5-3-0-9 (8-6-7-5-3-0-9)
8-6-7-5-3-0-9 (8-6-7-5-3-0-9)

Jenny, Jenny who can I turn to? (8-6-7-5-3-0-9)
For the price of a dime I can always turn to you.
(8-6-7-5-3-0-9)
8-6-7-5-3-0-9 (8-6-7-5-3-0-9)
8-6-7-5-3-0-9 (8-6-7-5-3-0-9)
5-3-0-9
5-3-0-9
5-3-0-9
5-3-0-9

Or as oblivious as me.  The words mean nothing, only the number is familiar.  Thank god.

The first time I heard of this song was when I read this snopes page.

I’m quite happy to say I’ve never heard it, and I think I’m glad. wink
