Rightio, since so many of us have said we’re going to see it, I thought I’d open a thread where we can all discuss it. Just try not to give too much of the ending away for those who haven’t had a chance to get to a cinema yet ok.

I went and saw it yesterday as part of Christian’s b’day celebrations. I don’t think it was as good as the first one but I think it was still worth seeing. However, it’s bloody long. I don’t think there was a bladder in the place that wasn’t bursting by the end of it (and no I’m not getting old, I’m judging that on the queue for the loos afterwards :cheese: )

It’s all very slapstick however and has some great laughs. And Bill Nighy is just fantastic as Davy Jones. Yet another one to add to my DVD collection.

Oddly, I thought it was better than the first.  After the first half hour, it was less boring for me.

Haven’t seen the movie, but about a week ago I went on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland. That was pretty cool. They have animatronic versions of Johnny Depp that pop up all over the place.

I didnt like the film basically at all. I think the scenes were dragged out too long. but maybe I’m disappointed because I loved the first film.

I didn’t like it as well as the first, but thought it was worth seeing once.  I’ll probably end up seeing it again because my kids weren’t able to come with me.  It did go on way too long and would not be to appropate for smaller kids.  The opening scene would be way to scary.  I hope that this one being so long will mean the third one won’t be.  hopefully that one will come out next summer along with another must see spiderman 3.  Although I’ll be stuck watching transformers too.  It’s the price we pay for having boys.

....Well, if having boys means you get to go to the movies that often…I need to find my husband.

...Really, though, I haven’t been to the theater in over a year now.  I think the last thing we saw was a Star Wars movie.  Jason keeps SAYING we’ll go see “this” or “that”...but we never do.

It’s probably my fault, b/c I refuse to take Jocelynn out with us anymore.  She has become very bratty in public…and I don’t want to ruin anyone else’s experience.  Since my parents always say they’ll watch her…but then forget they’ve agreed to & make plans for something else…we’re stuck w/o a babysitter anyway.

I don’t know how I feel about that.  I loved the original ride and I had thought they did a good job of incorportating it in the movie.  Just little scenes in the pirate town and in the jail.

Hopefully, I’ll be seeing the movie this week.  I’m thinking it won’t be as good as the original but still worth watching but we’ll see.

As I understand it, the pirates are a bit more politically correct now.  I heard they were taking out the one of the pirate chasing the woman around.

Well, that’s what happens when you give women the vote. 😛

I never went on the original Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Last week was my first time at Disneyland. (Probably my last time, too. I didn’t think it was all that great for the price.) So anyway, I can’t compare the new ride to the old one, but I did think it was one of the better rides there. There’s a drop at the beginning of the ride, which was fun. And you go through a recreation of a naval battle, which was kind of cool.
