I was actually thinking closer to the 1918 flu pandemic, but yes, those diseases did peak a considerable bit later than that.

Bear in mind, the H1N1 strain that caused the 1918 pandemic infected 500 million people, and killed between 50 and 100 million of them. That’s a roughly 15% chance of dying from the flu for anyone who still thinks the flu is just a bad cold…
