WOW Peter! I don’t celebrate Easter, but I think that’s on Sunday? My sister told me yesterday that her grandsons were off for part of the day and I asked her ‘why?’ thinking it must be teacher’s conference etc. She informed me it was ‘Maudy Thursday’. I’d never heard that word before so I had to look it up and it is ‘foot washing’ or ‘washing of feet’ that is celebrated the day before Good Friday (or at the Last Supper). Amazingly, though I had many years ago belonged to a small spiritual church, and had my feet washed by the minister (as had all the members), my sister has never had the experience. It was shortly after that [washing] when I realized I did not believe anything that or any other Christian church taught and walked far far away.
The Spring Equinox is Ostara, the day of coloring eggs, hunting them, and the Rabbit….which was March 20 this year is the one I do recognize but don’t actually do much but enjoy that Spring has Sprung. This is the holiday that Christians moved to their Easter though and all of this gets pretty mixed up into a delightful stew but still FUN I think for everybody!
So, Happy Equinox, Happy Spring, Happy Ostara, Happy Easter, and Happy Being Alive!!!
