Because, OMG, 2 1/2 months?! Really? Also, who doesn’t like seals?
Anyhow, I am still among the living, though things are just as crazy busy as ever. This is my last semester, though—provided I don’t manage to royally screw up, I’ll be graduating May 4th.
Also, Dave has had all kinds of stuff going on with him. Was “fired” as a patient from the pain clinic and from his primary doctor, but he’s seen several specialists, and *finally* has a diagnosis for what’s wrong with his hip!! He’s got a non-displaced labrum tear, which boils down to a tear in the cartilage of his left hip orbital socket. That torn cartilage can fold over and the pieces grind together, causing excruciating pain. Go figure. The orthopedic surgeon Dave has talked to says he can fix it, though. And, since Dave has a diagnosis, and a surgical consult, followed (most likely) quickly by surgery, his new primary care doctor is keeping him at his current levels of pain medication rather than reducing them again. And while they’re not *great* levels, they’re at least (barely) tolerable.
Nothing much new here, although I did finally work out that I was having some major anxiety issues (no thanks to the doctors who looked at me hyperventilating and telling me that nothing’s wrong). Found a book via Epbot that’s helped a huge amount, though. I’m feeling a lot happier than I was a couple of weeks ago!
No, if you can avoid those you avoid a new kind of nightmare. Three people in my family did the cocktail stuff and then mixed them with alcohol secretly and not secretly. My aunt successfully committed suicide, my mother tried several times, and my little brother ended up with cysts on his brain, went fishing at night and was found drowned in the morning.
Which is part of the reason why a few of you have seen posts from me about not even liking wine, let alone stronger stuff, and why I have a hard time NOT being terrified by prescriptions I’ve received.
Doing what Dave has been doing, surgery, to correct the CAUSE of pain (if you can, some pain has no cure) is the smart route!
I should like to point out that march First is National Pig Day in the US. Oink!
Let’s see.. things have been going ok for me. Finances are annoying, but then that’s my usual state. The big four-zero is looming, along with a growing sense that I should have figured out my life by now, dammit.
I have a new mattress, as the old one was attempting to murder me on a nightly basis. No really. Broken springs actually drew blood a couple times.

I get a sort of kick out of folks saying this. I’ve heard it from 20 year olds whose folks think they should know what and who they want to be so they go to college and ‘become’ that major. I’ve heard it from 30 year olds who suddenly think life has already passed them by because they’re still living at home, or have not met the ‘one’ yet. I’ve heard it from 50 year olds who suddenly realize they are NOT who or what they thought they were in their 20s and 30s and 40s. I hear it from 70 and 80 year olds who are still trying to figure it out.
Robin, you are ‘Robin’ with messy finances and a dead and buried mattress yet had the courage to marry a new one. I’m not old enough either to know who or what I am, BUT, I can tell you that it seems to change each new day and just keeps evolving and de-evolving. I’d say you’re right on track.
Not much happening here. Life goes on, I go to work each day and collect my paycheck to pay the bills. Unfortunately this is what happens during winter when it’s hard to get out and enjoy the things I usually do. However I did get some time to work on my bike and get it ready for riding season. I also managed to whip up a huge batch of lasagna while keeping an eye on some jerky in the smoker at the same time. The lasagna turned out good and the jerky is great. Now if I can only keep from eating it all at once.
In other news my weight loss program is going well. Since last summer I’ve managed to keep the weight down to around where my original target was. I’ve thought about trying to lose some more but I’m comfortable with this so as long as I can refrain from pigging out on ice cream and stuff I should be ok. Going to the gym on a regular basis helps too.
It’s spring break, and I’m taking advantage of the time off by getting some cleaning done around the house. Not trying to do all of it at once, but definitely making a dent every day. Now I just have to remember to keep up on my homework, too, so that I’m not trying to rush and get it all done next weekend!
Just got an email from my History of the English Language professor with my midterm grade. She said the class average was 88.6%, and my grade was 90%, so an A-! I’m pretty happy with that, since a couple of the questions were pretty tricky, and I wasn’t sure I actually did very well.
