I’ve done almost no Christmas shopping! We’ve got most of the Mousling’s stuff, but very little for anyone else…

The last minute Christmas shopping is going to begin this weekend wherein I will brave the crowds and battle my way thru mobs of crazed shoppers in order to pick up a bunch of cheap stocking stuffers.  rolleyes

Naw, I’m going to spend the weekend attached to my sofa and worry about shopping next week when most people are working.

This year, my family’s not celebrating Christmas.. we’re gonna celebrate the Mayan Calendar!... Ok, we celebrate the Solstice every year, but still! 2012! Yay!

I’m actually noticing a LOT less furor over it, as the date approaches. I think that the ‘end of the world’ predictions we had last year kinda soured the mood for everyone.

One of my friends is having an Apocalypse party that evening.  We figured we would either go out in style or just get completely drunk and miss the whole thing waking up with a hangover to find that we still have a few years to go before the sun devours the earth.

Well… tonight is shaping up to be a bang-up night…

First, we had a guest die. Not in the hotel, thankfully, but yeah.. not a good situation there.

Next, I’ve managed to screw up badly enough to ruin the holidays.

See, I was doing my finances, had some bills needing to be paid. Checked the bank balance and sure, I’ve got plenty of cash. So I paid them off.

I’d failed to realize that my rent check had not cleared.

Thankfully, I had JUST enough to cover it… but I’m stuck with $40 to my name until the 21st.

Guess what day my family is getting together? Guess who hasn’t got any presents for anyone yet?

Yeah. I’ve not been in this depressed a mood since I was living on the streets.

Can you borrow some money until then?

Actually, problem is solved. Some friends of mine were willing to help out a lot in exchange for emergency babysitting. Said babysitting consisted of watching Shaun the Sheep for a bit before putting the toddler down for naptime. Worked out nicely.

There seems to be a sideline income for you there Robin.  Lady luck is smiling on you.
