It’s a public holiday here in Australia as we show respect for ANZAC Day.

What is ANZAC Day?
ANZAC Day – 25 April – is probably Australia’s most important national occasion. It marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War.

What does ANZAC stand for?
ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. The soldiers in those forces quickly became known as ANZACs, and the pride they took in that name endures to this day.

Of course it’s always nice being able to sleep in on a public holiday.

So, no Dawn Service for you then, Peter? wink

Not that I can talk - mind you, I seem to have a sinus problem that made me want to sleep in this morning.  I’m beginning to wonder if I’ve got similar allergy problems to my mother.

No Dawn Service for me I’m afraid.

I get sinus problems too at this time of the year some years. I’ve still got some Allerfexo tablets for hay-fever (dam these dash inserting spell checkers). I should see if there’s anything better I can try.

Why are you afraid of the Dawn Service? Some particular reason or just irrational fear?

Hey, trying to find some way to sleep in past Reveille is a time-honoured military tradition.  Any true ANZAC would be proud of you.

A vampyre only if you say drinking excessive cups of tea is the definition of being one. Speaking of vamps, whatever happened to Tranvision Vamp?

No idea…I barely remember the song from my younger days.  I definitely recall her dress, though - reminds me of an iced vo-vo…

“Australia’s respect for ANZAC Day”

God that title makes me sound old. I should’ve just said “Happy ANZAC Day”.
