I’m wondering if anyone is interested in discussing these guys? They’ve interested me for years.

There is a 2003 post about this on the site: http://www.museumofhoaxes.com/hoax/weblog/comments/174/

I don’t see any comments regarding it until July 2006, at which point 90 pages of them were amassed until March 5, 2011 at http://www.museumofhoaxes.com/hoax/weblog/comments/174/P2670

Commenting ceased at that point, I assume perhaps because it became disabled? I certainly couldn’t leave any.

I’m particularly interested in reading the literature. I actually bought the Vampire Bible years ago out of curiosity so I’ve read that, but they have a bunch of other stuff, including 3 volumes of Bloodlines (89-02, 03-07, 08-10) , a Tome of Dayside Mastery, 4 sequel bibles (Predator/Priesthood/Sorcery/Adept)

I could have sworn there was some other book sorta like bloodlines but I forget the title. But anyway, I plan to buy them some day since I love hardcover books and collect them (they have an embossed logo!) but at the moment I lack the funds and space for such things, so I’m wondering if anyone has read the other material and what your impressions of it are.

Ooh… necro-posting. Always fun. Still, it HAS been awhile on this topic…

In any case, my take on the whole mess is ‘making money off making people think they are specal snowflakes’. I have yet to meet a self-described ‘vampire’ that was not up their own rectum to an incredible degree.

There is no such thing as a vampire. Period.

Not even ‘energy’ or ‘psychic’ vampires.

Anyone who claims to be such is either A: trying to sell you something, B: deluded to the point of actually believing it, or C: trying to fit in with the cool kids and making their stories sound better than everyone else’s.

A lot of the ‘vampires’ out there are teenagers, who have had a crisis of Ego. For the first time in their lives, they have realized just how small they are in the universal scheme of things. Instead of accepting that they are NOT the center of the world’s attention, these people fall into the trap of claiming to be supernatural beings, with amazing super powers. This makes them special. This makes them important. Meetings of these types are pretty much a gigantic metaphor for mutual masturbation, with everyone’s egos being stroked and massaged by those around them.

Most of these kids are social misfits, for one reason or another, and this does nothing to help them become proper members of society. Social graces are not developed, and they wind up treating everyone they meet like dirt. After all, they’re special, and if you can’t see that, it’s because you’re stupid, not because they’re utterly inept at human interaction. A lot of them try for the ‘aloof and haughty’ or ‘dark and mysterious’ themes, but only wind up coming across as jerks.

Anyway… Closing argument - Not real. People who think it is need a good smack of reality. Or perhaps just a good smack.

2: What proof will you accept that you are wrong? You ask us to change our mind, but we cannot change yours?
3: It is not our responsibility to disprove your claims, but rather your responsibility to prove them.
4. Personal testamonials are not proof.

What part of ‘meow’ don’t you understand?

Necro-posting about vampires. The irony.

I agree there is no such thing as a vampire. Accept maybe debt collectors.

Risky to say out loud near a vampire…

Yeah, that thread was closed. I can’t remember why. I have a vague memory that there was too much fighting going on in it, so it became a pain to deal with.

Yeah, I do recall it getting rather heated, and had degenerated into name-calling and the like.

This general line of humour has now been done twice, but I used to work in Legal for a big Insurance Company, you meet some parasitic, bloodsucking ghouls there I can tell you! Come to think of it most of us didn’t see all that much daylight, but that might just be down to a combination of the Scottish climate, working overtime and the timezone difference between ourselves and the head office in the U.S.
