The good news? The Hunger Games made $155 million at the box office its opening weekend, making it the third-best debut in North American box office history. The bad news, however, reflects a level of idiocy that we weren’t really expecting.

Yeah, I remember the kerfluffle that erupted with Harry Potter when it turned out that a boy that was mentioned in one of the early books (sans description) turned out to be black. Not only were the racist gits annoyed, but the writers of some of the smuttier Potterfics were upset at their ‘work’ being ruined…

Still, if you want whitewashing, the worst offender (IMHO) is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. April O’Neil was originally a black, afro’d gal running a junk store, not a perky redheaded roving reporter…

There’s always the Tim Burton run of Batman movies

Harvey Dent played by a black man in the first two movies
but when they turn him into two-face for the third movie they get Tommy Lee Jones.
