Anyone watch LOST ?

This elaborate and sophisticated site was erected as the Hanso Foundation, which supposedly founded LOST’s Dharma Initiative:  http://thehansofoundation.org/

it talkes about -
  Mathematical Forcasting Initiative
Worldwide Wellness and Prevention Development Program
  Mental Health Appeal
  Electromagnetic Research Initiative
  Institute for Genomic Advancement
  Life Extension Project

I watch Lost but not because I want to.  My wife likes those type of shows.
I just can’t get into it.  Suspense is ok, but this show takes it to far in my opinion.

Yeh there are loads of spin off websites dedicated to LOST, theres the drive shaft one, the airline they all flew with website and some others, and they update them pretty regularly apparently. i think the dharma initiative are advertizing suckers to join the club for a small fee to be able to enter the website and be a dharma agent. You probably get lil hints about future episodes, so real LOSTheads can get together and have a meeting about whats really going on, as nothing really does in the every episode.

In UK they’ve been advertising that all will be revealed in season 2, iv been downloading it wk by wk and dont really know much more then i did at the end of the first season.  Something big beta happen soon though, all these promises, and nufin to show for it.

...yet i still cant stop watching…

Meh, from what I can tell from the wikipedia article on “Lost,” the show generates intregue by using vague names like “the monster” and “the others.”  Any show that needs to do that to generate interest is probably pretty lame.

Soldier: This is the worst part. The calm before the battle.
Fry: And then the battle is not so bad?
Soldier: Oh, right. I forgot about the battle.

The IDEA of the show is interesting.  How they’re plotting it out, bit by bit is not.  Those that aren’t taken in by “the others” or “the monster” have come to realize what they are.  The monster?  Is a tarp.

Anywho…

The series sounds interesting, however I dont really watch TV anymore.  Is it worth it to attempt to rent the DVD’s?

I have heard 24 is also a good show.. along with that one about the seamonsters (all I know is there was a baby one or something called Nim)... whatsit called?

I seriously dont watch Television anymore though…  at the most I’ll put on cartoon network while I do my artsy stuff as background noise (since music influences my work too much…) but I dont really watch it.

I think I stopped watching after I moved out on my own… makes me wonder why I pay for the digital cable package when I dont use it… Hmm….

Nim (for Nimrod) was in Surface….  this was very entertaining.

Though LOST seems cumbersome in that the actual time span for the characters is only days (while the audience watches over a period of months), the writers have posed for considerations some entertaining and debatable propositions or ponderings about what is actually happening and what appears to be happening.  A bit like the ‘dementia’ of the Da Vinci Code, there are hidden meanings even in tidbits like the titles of briefly seen books and other written material that passes casually by the camera’s panning eye.

The only shows I watch are those my husband tapes for me and these are few.  I have not actually watched television for a number of years…... the chitting sound and intense population of inane entertainment is most annoying.

I didn’t like surface at all.  It was lousy.  Too much stuff that should have run into one another much more quickly…whatever, they’re trying to draw it out, I know.

There is a Lost thread on another message board I visit…I browse it when someone posts…b/c they point out all the weird stuff.  Like the Screwtape letters & ‘the others’...I don’t do any of the research myself though…too time consuming.

Also, has anyone noticed the fake t.v. advertisements for The Hanso Foundation that play during Lost?

Yeah, I have. It’s really creepy, but I try not to get too obsessed with anything on the telivision.

I checked one out - but it was too creepy to keep checking them.  Plus - the names got too long for me to remember.
