Okay, so we know Alex hasn’t been seen for a while.  And that’s due to this.  Possibly.

Either my Google-fu is really weak this evening, or there’s some hoaxing going on, because the only place I can find reference to this book is on the Borders Australia website.  And even that can’t agree to the release/publishing date.  According to the link to the book itself, it was published 2010-08-06 (this translates after a quick search on Borders to 6th August 2010).  However, if I look up all books by Alex, it lists Electrified Sheep as on backorder, with an estimated delivery date of 3 June 2011!

So, either Alex’s book is so very popular (and he’s gone off on some world book signing tour and forgot to inform us), or something’s kinda screwed up at Borders.

I found that book on a few other sites after I Googled it including here. That page also says “Due for release on 03 Jun 2011”

I did this Google Search.

Ah, thanks Peter.  I was sure that Borders had stuffed up somewhere.  Still, I’m a tad disappointed that we still have nearly another year to wait before the book is published.

Just handed in a first draft of the manuscript—not that it’s completely finished yet. Still have a bit more to write. But anyway, had a little bit of free time, and decided to check out the site, and I saw this post.

I had no idea the publisher had done a mock-up of the cover. So that was interesting to see. But the title ELECTRIFIED SHEEP seemed a bit gruesome to me, so I’ve been trying to get them to change it. What I think are the leading candidates for the new title are either NUKE THE MOON or THE INDESTRUCTIBLE ATOMIC PIG.

I’ve been told the pub date is June 2011.

A lot of the experiments listed on the Borders blurb haven’t actually made it into the book.

Why would the publishers put it online so prematurely?

I’m not really sure. I know they set publication dates with the advice of the big book chains, so they were probably just getting the title into the system as a placeholder, as part of the planning process.

Perhaps you can convince them to do it as a rock band flyer.. With “ELECTRIC SHEEP” as the headliners, but ‘Also appearing’ ‘Nuke the Moon’ and ‘Indestructable Atomic Pig’...
