I shall be singing Scots folk songs all day.
Partially to celebrate, and partially to annoy Matt.

Matt’s pirate accent and his ‘Scotty’ accent are remarkably similar too…

As I come ower Strathmartin Braes, wha dae ye think I seen,
A braw young piping laddie coming linkin ower the green.

Singin hey Donal, ho Donal, dirrum a doo a day

He played a jig, an he played a reel, played a sweet strathspey,
He roosed ma hert till it’s beat ticked time wi the tappin o ma tae.

Singin hey Donal, ho Donal, dirrum a doo a day.

Now I’ve nae gaud tae offer ye, for I’ve gaithered little gear,
But we’ll hae love and freedom gin ye’ll follow me my dear.

Singin hey Donal, ho Donal, dirrum a doo a day.

There’s gowd in the broom on the Sidlaw hills, honey fae the heather sweet,
There’s a speckled trout in the dirlin tarn, a carpet neath wir feet.

Singin hey Donal, ho Donal, dirrum a doo a day.

Sine he’s taen up his chanter and sik a spring he’s played,
That I chose love and freedom now and wander all wir days.

Singin hey Donal, ho Donal, dirrum a doo a day,
Singin hey Donal, ho Donal, dirrum a doo a day.

And that is what I am singing.

That sounds remarkably like a critique i read of a Scottish poet a while back. (Whose name escapes me at the moment…blergh!)  I could have taken that right out if its pages! LOL

Morning, peoples. *hugs*

I ordered a new copy of my birth certificate yesterday (since mine is probably in our garage in a box somewhere, and even if I was inclined to stand outside in the cold and search for it, I can’t, because the doors are blocked shut with ice), and when I did a quick Google search to check if my stepfather was a Junior or not (he legally adopted me when he and my mom got married, so my birth certificate got changed), I found out that yes, he is a Junior, but I also found out that his dad died in February 2008.  Granted, I only met the man once, but he was nice, and treated me like his real granddaughter, so I was kind of bummed that he died.

I also found out that my mom is a Vietnam War veteran. big surprise  I knew she served aboard a ship in 1972, but since I’m terrible at history, I hadn’t tied that to the Vietnam War.  For some reason, I thought that was over before 1970. red face

Today I’m supposed to be working on this blanket—told mom yesterday that I was pretty sure I wasn’t going to finish it in time for the baby shower today, and she said that was okay, as long as I finish it before the baby is born (due in April). smile

Crafty Dragon - 21 February 2010 04:56 PM

I ordered a new copy of my birth certificate yesterday

LAST NAME:  Dragon
FIRST NAME:  Crafty
SEX:  No comment
DATE OF HATCHING:  Long ago, but not too long
PLACE OF HATCHING:  Over there
REASON FOR HATCHING:  Sheer contrariness on her part, most likely

There you go, Crafty, just print that out and you’re all set.

LOL Acci!

Y’know…that might be a fun thing to do, just for giggles!  I don’t think it’s going to work for a passport, though.
