Okay.  I’m starting to become a believer.

Want to know who “really” sank the Titanic…???

It was most definately the incompetant Captain and crew themselves…

Hit that iceberg dead on… crush the bow, lose (and regretably sacrifice) the front compartment or maybe even front two compartments, activate your water-tight bulkhead doors… and limp into port. The important part of that statement being… into port. Some loss of life occurs but at least not 1400+...

Scrapping the damn thing down one side and risk opening that many compartments to the sea… worst maritime decision in history… or at least VERY close to it.

Well, that’s not really fair to the crew of the ship.  Even better than running head-on into the iceberg or just grazing it would have been to have missed it altogether.  And that’s what they were trying to do.  They almost managed it, too.

Like I care about being fair to a crew who put 29 people into a 60 person lifeboat just because they’re of a different class??? I’m sticking to my original statement… negligent crew, bad decisions, Captain and crew were to blame. They had sea ice warnings and they’re still “blasting” through the North Atlantic trying to make record time. Going at speeds that were too fast, they basically outran their ability to safely navigate considering the technological level of the day. (ie - no radar / sonar) Sorry Acci, totally respect everything you have to say… but you’ll never change my mind on this one!
