Not far-fetched enough. America is already up for sale on the bond market. And buying dollars on the currency exchange is a bit like buying stock in America. |

However, privatizing just the Defense Department and selling stock in that. There's an idea. Though I think a British newspaper ran an April Fool's Day piece about something like that back in the Thatcher era. |

I already researched the whole thing. The bond market will not give anyone any ownership whatsoever. If you buy a stock, then you own a piece of whatever organization you bought the stock in. |

How about an article suggesting that with the next election time the presidency of the USA will be directly sold to the highest bidder, instead of raising the smoke curtain called "elections" on this process? |

There was a true story a couple of years ago about the gov's intent to use the stock market to predict terrorist activity. The idea was sound, it basically uses the market as a way to engage millions of analytical minds and methods and summarizes that analysis into prices and trends. The public freaked out, feeling that betting on terrorism is immoral. |

Unless it's quite obviously parody/satire (as in "The Onion"! Lovely site/newspaper), you're on very shaky ground. If you do manage to foment national panic on false grounds and if it's traced back to you (and as you've posted on a public forum about it, it most assuredly will be), it's possible that you could be in quite a bit of hot water, legally speaking. As the good old Supreme Court justices say, even freedom of speech doesn't make it legal to shout "Fire!" in a crowded theater. Purposely inciting discontent and possible anarchy among the citizenry (and without a shred of truth to your accusations, either) = not groovy, yo.
That said, I very much doubt you'd manage to cause the kind of national trauma you're hoping for, unless you have a prank-minded friend at the AP or Rutgers--or else a whole lot of buddies willing to spam your website everywhere for you. |

natasha: Five words: Learn to speak proper English. The prank is, he's putting the united states on the stock market to lower taxes. This means that if someone buys 51% or more of the shares, that person will control the united states.

I just pulled a couple of cute pranks on my new roommate in celebration of April Fool's Day. She went to work-out early this morning only to find that she has no socks and every pair of her sneakers are greased with vaseline. lolol. She cleaned the vaseline out of one pair the best she could and worked out sockless. Yuck. When she came back home and started to dress for work, my roommate discovered that every pair of her work pumps are super glued to the carpet!!! She had to cut a pair off of the floor. My roommate is a good sport; however,she claims that my car will need a new set of tires by morning. I may have stepped into a "sticky situation". lolol We'll see!!! Happy April Fool's Day!!! |
