One night a man had a dream,
He dreamed he was walking along
the beach with Jesus.
Across the sky flashed
scenes from his life.
For each scene he noticed
two sets of footprints in the sand,
One belonging to him and
the other to Jesus.
When the last scene flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed many times in his life there was
only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened to be at
the very lowest and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered him and
he questioned Jesus about it.
"Jesus, you said once I decided to follow You,
You'd walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life,
there is only ONE set of footprints.
I don't understand why
when I needed You the most
You would leave me."
Jesus replied:
"My son, my precious child,
I love you and I would never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering,
When you see only one set of footprints,
It was then that Bigfoot carried you." |

Since I agreed with Hairy about the colors I'll have to disagree with him here to maintain balance. It's not Ringo or Jesus (though he's close). It's the Big Man himself...

Alex, you made me snort out loud with laughter at that one. At first, I thought, "Great, another religious fanatic who thinks that simple recitation of some doggerel is somehow 'proof' of something" (yes, I really think in whole sentences like that).
Then I looked at the last line and emitted the aforementioned snort. |

Well, the proper name for the phenomenon is pareidolia. But I'm worried that if I use that term, most people won't have the slightest clue what it means. I'll make it 'faces-seen-in-stuff', which is slightly shorter. |

Oh, and I should acknowledge that I didn't write that poem above (just in case anyone thought that I had). Though I did slightly edit the last line. It's by Mary Stevenson. There's even a website devoted to it:

Alex, that's what I loved about it! Your editing of the last line. I've seen this poem all over the place as well and when I saw it posted my first reaction was O'brother! Then I noticed it was posted by you and I read the last line and cracked up! Thanks for the laugh. |

Don't be daft. The personage in the footprint has hair. Darwin was obviously born bald (and old) since that's the only picture of him that I've ever seen.

Dugg-o, you don't think that the carpet/Mickey thing was a coincindence, do you? Monsanto, a subsidiary of Disney, was known for years for putting media icons and other recognizable items in their carpet patterns, sometimes just to satisfy the hobby whims of the Monsanto Board of Directors. Mildewe Fleecem, the board legal counsel, was an amateur microbiologist. That's why the carpet's "paisley" patterns looked like amoebas. |
