Hoax 911 call

There was news last week of a reported 4-year-old girl in New Jersey who called 911 to report her mom was injured. Personally, when I heard the audio clip, I could tell it was an adult faking a child's voice, but it seems to have sent the authorities a-tizzy. I suppose it's better to be safe than sorry, but I'm becoming increasingly convinced that the authorities will jump at any chance to roust the public and scare the beejeezus out of us.

Oh, yes, The Culture of Fear. As long as we are frightened of everything from Trick or Treating to Cell phones causing cancer, we are easily pliable as we look to the Great Protector Government God to keep us afe from harm. |
