Car Climbs War Memorial. (1964)
Under cover of darkness, anonymous pranksters managed to balance a car on top of the War Memorial in Connellsville, PA (at the intersection of Route 119 and North Pittsburgh St.). City authorities were searching for those responsible, as well as for "a boom large enough to remove the vehicle." Children enroute to school first noticed the car on the monument. More…

Snorekill. (1964)
In his annual article in Radio-Electronics, Mohammed Ulysses Fips described his recent invention of a "Snorekill" snore elimination device. It was an adaptation of his Noise Neutralizer (described in his 1952 column) adapted for the specific purpose of suppressing snore sounds. It worked by picking up the snoring sounds with a microphone, then reversing the phase of the sounds, and feeding them back into the room, thereby canceling out the sound of the snoring. More…
